Una semana más, os traemos un nuevo episodio de esta sección tan especial. Tras el lanzamiento de su nuevo álbum “Opal”, tenemos la ocasión perfecta para preguntarle… ¡Por muchas cosas!

Tras siete años de carrera, el productor danés tiene muy claro lo que quiere. Si bien consiguió su puesto en la industria con su gran salto a Monstercat, posteriormente siguió su legado en sellos como Spinnin’ Records, Barong Family o Musical Freedom. Finalmente decidió lanzar su propio sello discográfico, Riotville Records, el cual ha sido pieza clave en su desarrollo como artista.

Tras el lanzamiento de su reciente álbum -“Opal”– y teniendo en cuenta su prolongada trayectoria cargada de éxitos, no dudamos ni un segundo en tratar de entrevistar a este gran artista. Y bien cavernícolas, lo prometido es deuda. Os presentamos… Entrevistando a: Snavs.

Loud Cave: Antes de nada… ¿quién es Snavs?
Snavs: Soy un productor de música de Copenague, Dinamarca, que hace todos los géneros; pero principalmente música bass. Llevo produciendo música desde hace unos 9 años y he estado de gira por todo el mundo tocándola.

LC: Before starting… who is Snavs?
S: I’m music producer from Copenhagen Denmark making all genres, primary bass music. Been producing music for about 9 years now and been touring the world playing it.

LC: ¿Cómo definirías tu sonido en tres palabras?
S: Atmosférica, melancólica e intransigente.

LC: How would you define your sound in three words?
S: Atmospheric, melancholy & uncompromising

LC: ¿Cuáles han sido los puntos claves en tu carrera como artista desde el primer día
hasta hoy?
S: En cuanto a festivales, estar de tour y tocar en festivales grandes como Coachella, Tomorrowland & EDC Las Vegas. En cuanto a música, conseguir que Tiesto remezclara mi canción y lanzar mi álbum de debut con mi propio sello.

LC: What have been the key points from the first day until now on your career as an artist?
S: Touring wise it’s playing big festivals like Coachella, Tomorrowland & EDC Las Vegas. Music wise getting Tïesto to remix my track and releasing my debut album on my own label.

LC: Con respecto al lanzamiento de tu álbum “Opal”, hemos observado diferentes registros musicales dentro del mismo. ¿Tenías claro que querías mostrar tu polivalencia desde el principio o llegó sin buscarlo?
S: Sí, esa es la belleza de hacer un álbum y no sólo de publicar singles… puedes ser creativo y jugar con diferentes géneros.

LC: Regarding to your release of your album “Opal”, we have seen different musical styles in the same one. Were you clear from the beginning about showing your versatility or did it just happen?
S: Yes that’s the beauty of making an album and not just releasing singles.. You’re able to be creative and play around with different genres

LC: ¿Cómo ha sido el proceso de creación de “Opal”?
S: Me encantó el proceso de creación de Opal y tuve muy claro desde el principio cómo tenía que ser el sonido. Algunos de los temas se hicieron durante las giras, pero la mayoría se crearon en mi estudio durante el invierno danés, que siempre es la mejor época para hacer música y ponerse de buen humor.

LC: How the creation process of “Opal” has been?
S:I loved the process of creating Opal and i was very clear from the beginning how the soundscape should be. Some of the tracks was made while touring but most of them was created in my studio during the danish winter, which always is the best season for me to make music and get in the right mood.

LC: ¿Qué es lo que más y lo que menos te gusta del mismo?
S: Me gusta la diversidad y me gusta que el sonido sea tan claro, como si pudieras oír que es una pista de Opal. Lo que menos me gusta es difícil jajaj, no sacaría nada que no me gustara mucho.

LC: What are the best and the least things that you like from it?
S: I like the diversity and i like that the soundscape is so clear, like you can hear it’s an Opal track. The least thing is hard hahah, i wouldn’t release anything i liked the least.

LC: ¿Cuáles crees que son tus mayores virtudes como artista?
S: Diría que paciencia y trabajo duro.

LC: What do you think that are your best virtues as an artista?
S: I would say patience and hard work! 

LC: A lo largo de tu carrera has lanzado música por sellos como Monstercat, Spinnin’ Records, Musical Freedom o Barong Family. ¿Qué consejo le darías a un artista que sueñe con lograr lanzar música en sellos de ese nivel ¿Cómo fue para ti el proceso hasta que lo lograste?
S: Se trata mucho de las conexiones porque la mayoría de los sellos no comprueban cada pista en su correo… por ejemplo, hice una remezcla de Pegboard Nerds y esa fue mi manera de entrar en Monstercat. Yellow Claw me envió un mensaje en Twitter para colaborar y ese fue el camino a la Familia Barong. Pero por supuesto la música tiene que ser la adecuada, ¡pero el primer paso es hacer que la escuchen!

LC: Along your career you have launched music with labels like Monstercat, Spinnin’ Records, Musical Freedom or Barong Family. What advice would you give to an artist that dreams of launching music with lables like this? How was the process for you until you got there?
S: It’s a lot about connections because most labels don’t check every track on there public demo mail.. e.g. I made a remix of Pegboard Nerds and that was my way into monstercat.  Yellow Claw messaged me on Twitter to collab and that was the way to Barong Family. But of course the music has to be the right fit, but first step is to make them listen!

LC: ¿Cómo está ahora mismo la situación en Dinamarca? ¿El gobierno está apoyando a la industria musical con algún tipo de medida?
S: La situación en Dinamarca es como en la mayor parte de Europa, sin fiestas y todo cierra temprano. Recibimos algo de ayuda, pero no mucha, por desgracia.

LC: How is nowadays the situation in Denmark? Is the government supporting the music industry with any kind of measure?
S: Situation in Denmark is like most of Europe, no parties and everything closes early. We do get some help but not that much unfortunately.

LC: Tras llevar ya 5 años con tu sello discográfico Riotville Records, ¿qué consejo le darías a alguien que quiera construir su propio label?
S: La consistencia es muy importante y por supuesto encontrar la música adecuada. Busca talentos en Soundcloud.

LC: After already being for five years with your record label Riotville Records, what
advice would you give to someone that can build their own label?
S: Consistency is really important and of course finding the right music. Look for talents on Soundcloud.

LC: ¿Con qué objetivo nació Riotville Records? ¿Cuáles son tus ideas respecto a la
música que lanzáis?
S: ¡Por muchas razones! En primer lugar, quería mostrar nuevos talentos, pero también quería lanzar mucha música de productores de mi país natal, Dinamarca, y construir y apoyarnos mutuamente como lo hacemos en los Países Bajos. En cuanto a la música, la idea es lanzar música buena, sin ningún género específico, sólo buena música. Lanzar música que sea diferente y no necesariamente hecha para Spotify.

LC: With what purpose Riotvilla Records was born? What are the ideas regarding the music that you launch?
S: Many reasons! First of all I wanted to showcase new talents but I also wanted to release a lot of music from producers form my home country Denmark and build and support each other like they do in The Netherlands. Music wise the idea is to release good music, no specific genre, just good music. Release music that are different and not necessarily made for Spotify.

LC: Actualmente vemos como muchos artistas cogen el sonido del future bass y lo implementan en otros géneros, como por ejemplo el drum & bass. Crees que a día de hoy el future bass es un género “muerto” en líneas generales?
S: No, en realidad creo que ahora es un buen momento para todos los géneros… No hay un género específico que todo el mundo esté haciendo y de lugar a un montón de música diferente. ¡¡Eso es increíble!!

LC: Nowadays we see how so many artists get the future bass sound and they implement it in other genres, like for example drum & bass. Do you think that nowadays future bass is a “dead genre” in the general lines?
S: Nope, I actually think that right now is a good time for every genre.. There is not a specific genre that everyone makes and that makes room for a lot of different music. That’s awesome!! 

LC: En estos tiempos marcados por la COVID-19, ¿cómo estás afrontando tu situación tanto económica como artística?
S: Económicamente estoy intentando no gastar tanto en ropa jajaj pero lo estoy sobrellevando con el dinero que gano de las “royalties” , las publicaciones etc etc… Artísticamente no he cambiado mucho, excepto por hacer algunas emisiones en directo… Creo que es importante pasar esta difícil etapa sin cambiar demasiado.

LC: During this times with COVID-19, how are you confronting this situation both economic and artistic?
S: Economically i’m trying not to spend as much on cloth haha but I’m getting thought it with the money i get from royalties, publishing etc etc.. Artisticly I haven’t changed much, besides doing a few livestreams.. I think it’s important to get through this tough period without changing too much.

LC: Teniendo en cuenta que a día de hoy en China se están realizando fiestas con normalidad, ¿cuándo crees tú que Europa y el resto del mundo se adaptarán a esta situación?
S: Es difícil saber cuando podremos hacer eso en Europa… Espero que se consiga una vacuna pronto… o a lo mejor podemos encontrar una manera de hacer tests muy rápidos a la gente y haya que dar negativo para poder entrar, ¡eso podria funcionar!

LC: Considering that nowadays there are parties with normality in China, when do you think that Europe and the rest of the world will adapt to this situation?
S: Hard to say when we can do that in Europe.. Hopefully we get a vaccine soon.. or maybe we get a way to test people really quick and you have to be negative to get in, that might work!

LC: Para terminar, ¿un objetivo que te propongas de aquí a final de 2020? ¿Y dentro de un par de años?
S: Quiero expandir mi sonido, trabajar con más géneros y salir de mi zona de confort! Cuando pueda ir otra vez de gira, me gustaria subirme a los escenarios más grandes de los festivales y tocar en nuevos países y ciudades, me encanta viajar y conocer sitios nuevos!

LC: To finish, a goal that you propose yourself from now until the end of 2020? And from some years?
S: I want to expand my sound, work with more genres and get out of my comfort zone! When I’m able to tour again, I want to get on bigger stages at the festivals and play in new countries and cities, I love traveling and exploring new places!

LC: Ronda de preguntas cortas:
¿Ableton o FL Studio?
S: Logic jajajajaj… pero si tengo elegir diría que Ableton.

LC: Round of short questions:

S: Logic hahahah.. but if I have to make a choice I would say Ableton.


LC: ¿Producir o pinchar?
S: Normalmente diría producir, pero ahora mismo echo mucho de menos pinchar jajaj… pero también porque echo de menos viajar y pinchar nueva música en frente de multitudes.

LC: Produce or DJ?
S: Normally I would say produce, but right now I miss DJ’ing so much hahah.. but also because I miss traveling and playing new music in front of crowds.


LC: ¿Playa o montaña?
S: hmmm montaña.

LC: Beach or mountain?
S: hmmm mountains.

LC: ¿Alguien con quien te gustaría colaborar?
S: Skrillex por supuesto… También RL Grime o Galimatias..

LC: Someone you would like to collaborate with
S: Skrillex ofc.. Also RL Grime or Galimatias.. 

LC: ¿Un artista que te gustaría tener en tu propio sello?
S: Rl Grime jajaj pero él tiene su propio sello

LC: An artist that you would love to have in your label?
S: Rl Grime haha but he has his own label

S: Monrroe – Out of time… la acabo de descubir, mola mucho!

LC: An undervalued artist?
S: Monrroe – Out of time.. just discovered it, so sick!
