Banger, tras banger, tras banger.
Loud Cave: Gary, Raymond, ¡bienvenidos a Loud Cave!
Sendos sets en los mejores festivales, outfits especiales, y tres álbumes (The First Dose, The Second Dose y The Final Dose).
Loud Cave: Gary, Raymond, welcome to Loud Cave! We are extremely grateful. This is our first interview with you, and it comes at the perfect time. We’ll have time for a more general chat about the Rebelion act in the future; today we’re going to focus on Beyond The Horizon, your recent album and one of the most important projects of your career.
From 2019 (when you released the live Overdose on Supremacy) to early 2025 (with the arrival of the third album in the trilogy), your brand has been closely linked to the Overdose project. Sets at the best festivals, special outfits, and three albums (The First Dose, The Second Dose, and The Final Dose). However; for most of this year, you have focused on Beyond The Horizon, a more melodic and commercial space-themed show. What are the main differences between Overdose and Beyond The Horizon? Did you come up with the idea together with the SWAG MGMT team (outfits, visuals, musical aesthetics…)?
Rebelion: After Overdose, we felt it was time to step back and reconnect with the essence of the true Rebelion sound: hard fucking music, but with a more melodic edge. We wanted to create a new live show and album concept, and since «space» has always intrigued us, the idea for Beyond The Horizon was born. Together with our management, we brought the concept to life, and looking back at everything we achieved with it, we couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out! We’re very proud of the full outcome.

LC: You’ll agree with us that 2025 is shaping up to be the best year of your career. In addition to the two albums, you have also released the Intents Festival anthem (‘Capital Of Crazy’ with Sub Zero Project and Micah Martin), ‘Rebel or Redeem’ (with Radical Redemption and Nolz), ‘FACE 2 FACE’ with Restricted, and ‘Chain Reaction’ (the Reverze anthem). With all these releases, why did you decide to release Beyond The Horizon at the end of 2025 and not at the beginning of 2026?
R: We knew the final Beyond The Horizon show in the Netherlands would take place at REBELLiON Indoor, so we wanted to time the album release around that moment as well so it would fit perfectly. On top of that, the album includes a lot of long-awaited tracks, and it was definitely time to drop it rather than keep fans waiting until early 2026.
LC: We see many similarities with Artificial Intoxication (the LP you released in 2022): a central theme that runs through the tracklist, a return to melody (while maintaining a high degree of hardness and aggressiveness), great collaborations, an important role for vocals, an uptempo ending… Although there are also differences, which we will discuss later. Do you think that in A.I. and Beyond The Horizon you have had more freedom to express your essence and musical knowledge than in the Overdose saga? Is the reception of the new album similar to that of A.I. in its day?
R: We’ve always felt free to make the music we want. With Overdose we fully explore that side of our sound. Producing Beyond The Horizon was a whole different journey; in many ways, it felt much closer to Artificial Intoxication. The response so far has been overwhelmingly positive, and we couldn’t be happier how people reacting on tracks like ‘We Own The Night’ and ‘Aliens On Acid’.
LC: Since the première at REBiRTH, you have presented the show at many of the biggest festivals: Decibel Outdoor, Nexus Festival, and even in Australia (Knockout Outdoor). And that’s after you had already played some tracks at Reverze. The climax came at REBELLiON Indoor, where you did the album showcase. How did you experience this session from the booth? Will the Beyond The Horizon show be with you for much longer?
R: It was wild! The production was insane, and the crowds reaction to the set and the show was incredible. We couldn’t have asked for a better album showcase and we’re very grateful towards REBELLiON Indoor. This performance also marked the final Beyond The Horizon show in the Netherlands, so we hope you’ve experienced it at least once…
LC: Overall, the album is quite extensive. It contains 17 tracks, although among them there is a remix by Ecstatic of ‘Life Or Death’ (together with Villain and Micah Martin), another by Vexxed of ‘Futurepower’, an edit by you of ‘Burning Down’ by Dual Damage, as well as one by Thijs and Jesper of ‘In Control’. Well, and ‘Lights Off’, a kind of edit of ‘City Lights’ with some impressive kickrolls at the end. If we remove these five tracks, we’re left with 12 (one more than on A.I.). Why did you decide to include all this material on the LP? And why did you put your trust in these artists?
R: Like we mentioned before, many of these songs were long-awaited fan favourites, and we felt it was finally time to release them. Ecstatic actually made the ‘Life Or Death’ remix quite a while ago, but we never found the right moment to put it out, so we reached out to him to include it on the album. Vexxed is one of the rising talents on our label Acid Reign, and we wanted to give him the chance to remix a Rebelion track. He absolutely crushed it with his remix of ‘Futurepower’!
Micah tiene un talento espectacular (le hemos visto en canciones de Rebelion anteriormente, como en ‘Never Back Down’, ‘Capital Of Crazy’, ‘Life Or Death’, ‘The Edge’ y ‘A.I.’; algunos de vuestros mayores hits).
LC: We understand that ‘We Own The Night’ featuring Micah Martin is a very special song for you. In fact, you premiered it on the Red Stage at Defqon.1 this year. Micah is incredibly talented (we’ve seen him on Rebelion tracks before, such as ‘Never Back Down’, ‘Capital Of Crazy’, ‘Life Or Death’, ‘The Edge’ and ‘A.I.’; some of your biggest hits). What’s it like working with him?
R: The Rebelion x Micah Martin combo just always works, and we love collaborating with him. Even before we dove into the vocals for this track, we could feel there was something special about the song that we made. Premiering it at Defqon.1 made the moment even more unforgettable, and it’s definitely one of our favourite releases of the year.
LC: ‘Alone’ is performed by Drean, a Spanish metalcore vocalist who is becoming increasingly present on the scene. It is a cover of Ronnie Radke, singer in the famous band Falling In Reverse. It was one of the most eagerly awaited tracks on the album. Why remix this track? And why with Drean?
R: We absolutely love the original, and we also love to add rock/metal influences in our music, which is why we created our own version. Drean was the perfect fit for the vocals, and we’re thrilled that fans finally get to hear this track!

LC: ‘Aliens On Acid’ featuring Sarah Anglionin was the first single from the LP; it was released in June. It’s a fun, danceable song, full of kickrolls, with male and female vocals. It is the most played track on the LP (over a million plays). A real hit. Did you decide to release it first because you think it’s the catchiest? Do you consider it Beyond The Horizon’s masterpiece?
R: ‘Aliens On Acid’ was actually one of the first new tracks we finished for Reverze back in February, which is why it was also the first track we decided to release. It’s definitely one of our favorites on the album, and we’re still incredibly proud of it, especially after seeing legends like Hardwell playing it at Amsterdam Music Festival in the ArenA.
LC: Both ‘Serenity’ (extremely euphoric, with traces of big room hardstyle and low BPM frenchcore kicks) and ‘Come Together’ (with a great vocal melody and chorus, and beautiful lyrics) were two incredible IDs premiered several years ago, eagerly awaited by fans. Why did you release them so late? Both are very melodic. How is it possible that they fit so well with the aesthetic of the LP if they were produced even before you thought about the Beyond The Horizon project? Had you been planning to return to melodic music for so long?
R: We never really found the right moment to release these tracks, but with the album, it felt like the perfect time to finally include them. They fit perfectly because they capture the true Rebelion sound. It’s always fun to see how some things just fall into place at the right moment.
LC: After the arrival of ‘WALL OF TOZA’ (included in The Second Dose), the Australian signed with Acid Reign. And now you’ve teamed up again on ‘ZAAG ‘N’ NIGHT’. The track starts off quite commercial, but culminates in a hybrid of his signature zaag kicks and your gated ones, with exquisite results. What’s the best thing about working with TOZA?
R: As for TOZA, since he’s signed to Acid Reign, the collaboration came together naturally. We really like what he’s doing right now. His distinct style and sound really shine through in our track. His contribution adds an extra punch to the album, and this definitely won’t be the last Rebelion x TOZA collaboration.
“Fucking up the mainstream again and again!”
